Shenstone Playing Fields Management Committee
Report to Shenstone Parish Council Annual Meeting June 18th 2025
1. The Trustees of the Shenstone Playing Fields Trust thank Shenstone Parish Council for the essential support they have given to the Trust over the last twelve months.
2. This support has ensured that last year, in the summer and autumn, in the absence of a Management Committee the primary functions of the Trust have continued. The importance of the Parish Council involvement interest and concern cannot be underestimated and I must single out the Chair David Salter and the Parish Clerk for their exceptional contributions.
3. The Parish Council took legal advice and Charity Commission advice carefully began to establish the Trusteeship role. Two Trustees were identified and nominated from the Parish Council who later invited two co-optees with skills and experience to further assist with the work required.
4. The Trustees have focussed on holding an AGM a soon as practicable based on the Charity Commission approved 1988 constitution with the intention of updating and modernising the 1988 constitution.
5. The Trustees are grateful to the Parish Council for allowing some initial legal costs to be covered strictly defining the initial way forward.
6. The Trustees are also grateful to the Parish Council for, after a significant number of years, increasing the annual maintenance allowance of all three village Playing Fields organisations including Shenstone.
