Report for Parish Council 2024 – 2025:
We’ve had a relatively quiet year, but that does not mean we’ve been sitting on our hands! In October 2024 Victoria Harris the Community Engagement Manager for London North western & West Midlands Railways left the company. Her replacement, Shantel Carty started work in April 2025! It is this person to whom we make all our requests and plans known. Still a little detail like this doesn’t stop us.
In November in conjunction with the Shesntone Environment Group and Shenstone Community Library we launched our Carp Art project. Art made from disgarded hub caps. Lichfield Litter Legends and Lichfield Rocks had already got a display on their platform at Lichfield City Station and so they helped us to get started. We held a launch night in November in the library which was very well attended and great fun. We held a “conclusion” evening in May where we collected in over thirty hubcaps. They are currently on display in the library. Because of the amazing response from the community we are now planning installations at the station, possibly in the village and at the library too. This would create an art trail through the village linking the station to the community and the library.
We held another very successful Christmas Tree Festival on the station during December 2024. We had 13 trees this year with St Johns Church and Steven Hale Hearing joining us for the first time
Anne Brown joined our group last year and has taken on the planters single handedley for which we are really grateful and she makes such a wonderful job of them.
Our membership now stands at seven members which is wonderful.
The labels on the planters and above our noticeboards were purchased with the generous grant funding from The Parish Council – thank you.
